Gaming Industry Interview

Nebojša Rosić, visionary and creator of the innovative event platform Game Changer, is recognized as one of the leading experts in the region when it comes to combining technology, gaming and business. In an exclusive conversation with Gamers Life, Rosić shares his thoughts on the future of the gaming industry, the potential of esports and monetization opportunities in this dynamic sector.

The gaming industry is growing rapidly on a global level. What, in your opinion, are the key factors that transform gaming into one of the most profitable industries today?

The gaming industry has managed to combine entertainment, technology and community in a way that other industries can hardly match. The key factors are certainly technological progress, especially in segments such as virtual reality, mobile gaming and cloud technologies, as well as an extremely engaged and loyal user base. Also, the "game as a service" model enabled long-term monetization and constant evolution of content, which makes this industry not only profitable but also extremely resistant to market changes.

Esports is becoming increasingly popular, especially among the younger generations. How do you see its potential for long-term growth and development as a serious branch of the entertainment industry?

Esports has enormous potential, primarily due to its ability to engage audiences on a global scale. Young people see it not only as entertainment, but as a lifestyle and a career opportunity. With the growth of investments in infrastructure, media production and the professionalization of esports teams, I believe that esports will continue to grow and will increasingly fit into the wider entertainment industry. The key will be maintaining a balance between competitiveness and accessibility for new players and fans.

Monetization in gaming and esports often depends on innovative approaches. What strategies do you find most effective when it comes to generating income in this sector?

Monetization has evolved far beyond traditional game sales models. Today, the most effective strategies are microtransactions, subscriptions, sponsorships and integration of brands into the gaming content itself. In esports, branded tournaments, content licensing, as well as broadcast rights bring in significant revenues. I believe that in the future, the growth of personalized experiences for players and audiences, such as NFTs and virtual events, will further revolutionize ways of monetization.

The regional market of the Balkans records an increase in interest in gaming and esports. Do you think that this region can become a significant player on the global scene, and what would be key to achieving that goal?

I absolutely believe that the Balkan region has the potential for significant global influence. We have talented gamers, creative developers and communities that are already very active. It is crucial to develop infrastructure, such as esports arenas and production studios, but also to invest in the education of young talents through academies and training programs. Regional tournaments and cooperation with global players could open the door to a wider market.

What are the biggest sustainability challenges facing the gaming industry and how can technology help overcome them?

The biggest challenges are certainly related to issues of player mental health, content regulation and ethical dilemmas related to monetization. Technology can play a key role by implementing tools to control game time, analyze data to better understand player behavior patterns, and develop safer and more inclusive gaming environments. Sustainable gaming means a balance between fun, profit and responsibility towards the community.

The Game Changer platform is recognized as an innovative concept that combines technology, business and creativity. Are there plans to expand the influence of the platform to the esports and gaming industry, and if so, in what way?

Game Changer already includes gaming and esports topics in its event programs, covering a wide spectrum from the development of video games, esports as a business, to the implementation of gamification principles in traditional industries. We will bring even greater attention to these topics through additional panels, workshops and networking opportunities between industry professionals and creators. We aim to provide a platform that supports innovation and inspires future leaders of the gaming and esports sector.
