PUBG: DED.NET unveiled at gamescom 2026 – watch the first trailer

During gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, KRAFTON presented PUBG: DED.NET, a brand new multiplayer FPS game set in an unusual and unpredictable version of Cascadia during the nineties.

While the pre-event announcement sparked speculation that PUBG Studios was working on PUBG 2, the project presented is not a direct sequel to PUBG: Battlegrounds. PUBG: DED.NET is a standalone experience that combines competitive FPS shooting with a roguelite progression system.

Every defeat affects the next attempt.

One of the main characteristics of the game will be progression through several played rounds. Defeat will not mean a complete loss of the achieved progress, because the collected resources and certain improvements will affect the development of the character and the way of playing in subsequent attempts.

Players will be able to combine dozens of abilities and thus create their own approach to combat. The first trailer also shows some rather unusual possibilities:

  • Using the car door as an improvised shield
  • Healing by eliminating and consuming opponents
  • Pretending that a character is dead to deceive other players
  • Hacking payphones and stealing money from rivals
  • Gathering resources and developing different combinations of abilities

PUBG: DED.NET visually differs significantly from the more realistic military style that PUBG: Battlegrounds is known for. The new game brings strong colors, punk and grunge aesthetics, unusual characters and a much more pronounced arcade approach to the action.

Battle royale, extraction shooter or something in between?

For now, KRAFTON describes the game as a multiplayer FPS with roguelite elements. Steam tags include battle royale, extraction shooter, PvP, survival, and action roguelite, but specific modes, player count, and match structure have not yet been detailed.

Because of this, PUBG: DED.NET currently acts as a combination of several popular genres, with a system where abilities and play style change during successive attempts.

When is PUBG: DED.NET coming out?

The release date has not yet been announced. The game is currently confirmed for PC and already has an official Steam page, where it can be added to the wishlist.

Registration for closed testing is also open via the game's official website. Minimum PC requirements currently include 16 GB of RAM, an RTX 2060 SUPER or RX 6600 graphics card, an SSD, and approximately 50 GB of free space.

PUBG: DED.NET is developing PUBG Madison, while the publisher is KRAFTON. More details about testing, gameplay systems and a possible release on consoles are expected in the coming months.
