A unique sporting event Phygital Football – National qualifications of Montenegro will be held on January 24 and 25, 2025 in Topolica sports hall in Bar. This tournament is a perfect fusion physical sports i digital competition, giving players the opportunity to showcase their skills both on the field and in the world of video games. The winning team will win prize fund of 1000 euros.

What is Phygital Football?

Phygital Football combines Futsal (physical part) i FC24 Volta (digital part), where the results from both disciplines are added together to determine the winner. This format brings a dynamic and fun approach to the competition, attracting both traditional athletes and video game fans.


Competition rules and format

Teams and participants:

  • Any team can have from 5 to 8 players.
  • Participation is allowed men and women, amateurs and professional athletes older than 16 years.

Digital part: FC24 Volta

  • They participate 4 players from the team.
  • They play the first half 2 players, and the rest of the second half 2 players.
  • Duration of the match: 2 halves of 3 minutes each, with a break from 2 minutes.

Physical part: Futsal 5×5

  • It is played on hard surface, without barriers.
  • The number of substitutions is not limited.
  • Duration of the match: 2 halves of 5 minutes of clean time, with a break from 3 minutes.

Scoring and winner:

  • Points from digital i physical part are added.
  • In the event of a tie, the winner is decided by performance penalty.

GamersLife: Can you tell us more about the format of this unique competition? How will the tournament go?

Filip Soć: The competition will begin with the group stage, where each team will have the opportunity to play a minimum of three games. After the group stage, there is an elimination part that leads to a direct knockout system, where each match becomes decisive for further placement.

GamersLife: How many games will each team have a chance to play?

Filip Soć: Each team plays at least three games in the group stage. The teams that advance play additional matches in the elimination part.

GamersLife: How are the results from the digital and physical part of the competition scored?

Filip Soć: Results from physical futsal and digital FC Volt are added up. Points and goals from both parts have equal importance, unless a specific scoring system is defined. For example, the total number of goals can be calculated or special points can be applied for victories in each segment.

GamersLife: Is it possible for one player to participate in both halves of the digital part?

Filip Soć: It is not possible, 2 players play the first half, and the other 2 players the second half.


About the digital part

GamersLife:: On which platform will FC Volta be played?

Filip Soć: All matches will be played on the same platform, which is the PlayStation 5.

GamersLife: Will players be able to adjust their teams and tactics before the match starts?

Filip Soć: Yes, the players will have the opportunity to adjust their tactics and setup before the start of the match, which will allow them additional flexibility and strategy.

GamersLife: Are specific adjustments allowed in the game?

Filip Soć: Yes, all adjustments and tactics within the standard rules of the game are allowed.


About the physical part

GamersLife:: Will the official futsal rules be applied during the physical part of the competition?

Filip Soć: Yes, the tournament will be played according to official futsal rules, including restrictions on fouls. For example, after 5 fouls per team, additional penalty kicks are applied.


About the participants

GamersLife: Is it allowed to play for multiple teams during the tournament?

Filip Soć: No, players are not allowed to play for more than one team during the competition.

GamersLife:: How will the age and identity of the participants be checked?

Filip Soć: The verification will be done through personal documents before the start of the tournament in order to ensure the regularity of the competition.

GamersLife: Are there sanctions for not following the rules?

Filip Soć: Yes, breaking the rules can lead to penalty points, suspension or disqualification depending on the severity of the violation.


About logistics and organization

GamersLife:: Will the match schedule be available in advance?

Filip Soć: Yes, rThe match schedule will be published at least 7 days before the start of the tournament so that the teams can prepare adequately.

GamersLife: Will the teams have the opportunity to test the equipment and space before the start of the competition?

Filip Soć: Yes, there will be an opportunity for training and testing of the equipment and space before the official start of the tournament.

GamersLife: How will ties be resolved?

Filip Soć: In case of a tie, a series of 5 penalty shots per team is played.

GamersLife:: In addition to the monetary award, will additional awards be provided?

Filip Soć: Yes, in addition to cash prizes, medals, trophies, awards and souvenirs will be provided for the best teams and individuals.
