2,058 review

Mojang confirmed at the Minecraft Live event on September 26th that The Sift is coming to Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition in 2027. The basic game thus gets a fourth dimension, along with Overworld, Nether and End - the first new one after more than 14 years.

It is an add-on for vanilla Minecraft, that is, the basic game without mods. The precise release date has not yet been announced.

What does The Sift bring?

Mojang describes the new dimension as a vibrant world filled with souls, unusual landscapes, and new dangers. Among the featured areas are: Meadow and Carapace.

The stream also featured a brief look at The Sift inside basic Minecraft, including one of the creatures that inhabit it. Details on mechanics, content and how to access the dimension are yet to come.

It first arrives in Minecraft Dungeons II

Players will first explore the new dimension through Minecraft Dungeons II, which releases on September 29, 2026. In this game, mysterious cracks, known as "rifts", lead to The Sift.

The sequel brings a connected world instead of the separate missions of the previous game, as well as the ability to jump. However, it is not yet known how much content from his version of The Sift will be ported to Java and Bedrock. The release date of Dungeons II should not be confused with the arrival of the dimension in the base Minecraft.

Ice caves also announced

Separately from The Sift, ice caves with icicles and glowing crystals are introduced, as well as a new variant of the frozen zombie. Its blows cause a freezing effect, while some specimens throw ice balls. This newspaper belongs to a separate future update.
