If you are a fan of mafia games, Mafia: The Old Country will take you right into the heart of Sicily in the early 1900s. This is no ordinary shooter, but a cinematic journey through the story of survival, ambition and the dangerous world of organized crime.

The plot of the game Mafia: The Old Country

Mafia: The Old Country takes us to the beginning of the 20th century, to sunny but merciless Sicily, to the fictitious city of San Celeste. At the center of the story is Enzo Favara, a young man who grows up in the brutal conditions of sulfate mines, dreaming of freedom and a better life. His escape from the hell of the mine ends unexpectedly. Don Bernardo Torrisi, the head of a powerful mafia family, saves him.

Through a series of tasks, from driving and delivering wine to dangerous missions against rival clans, Enzo slowly becomes part of the Torrisi family. Along the way, he meets Isabella, Don's daughter, and a forbidden romance develops between them. Love and loyalty soon come into conflict, and Enzo has to choose between his heart and his oath to the mafia.

The story escalates with bloodshed, betrayals and political games as rival clans try to take control of San Celeste. At the climax of the plot, personal tragedies and shocking twists push Enzo to the limit. His journey through betrayal, love and blood shapes him into a man ready to pay the highest price for what he believes in.

This is a story of ambition, honor and survival, a classic mafia saga told in a style that will please fans of the series and new players alike.

Breathtaking cinematic atmosphere

What immediately catches the eye is the direction of the scenes. The cutscenes look as if they were shot by a top-notch film crew. Every frame has perfect composition, light and emotion. San Celeste, a fictional Sicilian town, looks like a postcard from the last century.

Gameplay – strengths and weaknesses

  • Driving – Cars from that era are sluggish, but that's what makes them authentic. The sound of the engine and the feel of the controls are superb.
  • Combat and stealth - The shooting is correct, but the opponent's AI knows to make mistakes. Stealth or hidden segments are not the best part of the game.
  • Structure – Linear campaign without an open world, which may be an advantage for some and a disadvantage for others.

How long does it take and how much does it cost?

The campaign lasts about 10–12 hours, without unnecessary stretching. The price of 50 euros is fair, especially for such an atmospheric and well-told story.

Conclusion – is Mafia: The Old Country worth playing?

If you like narrative games with strong characters, emotional scenes, and an authentic atmosphere, it's definitely worth it. If your priority is an open world and endless missions, it might not be your type of game.
