Montenegro Days of Science Educational programs

On Wednesday, September 24, the Kotor Maritime Faculty hosted this year's events Science and Innovation Day - an event that gathers young people and brings science and new technologies closer to them in a fun and interactive way. The event was held with the support of the Municipality of Kotor, the Institute of Marine Biology and the Maritime Museum of Montenegro, and was visited by around 170 elementary school students from Plužine, Zeta and Spuž.

Science through VR and simulations

The activities at the college itself attracted the most attention: students had the opportunity to try it out VR glasses and virtually dive to shipwrecks in the Adriatic Sea, get to know the work 3D printer and try themselves on nautical simulator, steering the ship through the Bay of Kotor. For a younger audience – an experience reminiscent of gaming, but in a realistic, educational environment.

A combination of technology and tradition

The program included visits to the cultural and scientific institutions of Kotor. The students went around Maritime Museum, where they could see models of ships, uniforms and old maps of the Adriatic, as well as Boka Aquarium, with more than 50 species from the Adriatic sea. In this way, through practical experiences, they also learned about the preservation of marine biodiversity.

In addition to educational content for students, a seminar was held at the faculty "Innovations in the Blue Economy", in cooperation with the Innovation Fund of Montenegro, which emphasized the importance of developing a sustainable and innovative "blue economy" in the region.
