The International Esports Federation, IESF, has announced that all of its previous financial obligations have been fully settled. The Federation is now focusing on future activities, supporting national members and organizing the 2027 IESF World Esports Championship in Astana.

Since the election of the president and the new Executive Board in December 2025, IESF has worked to stabilize operations, strengthen the organizational structure and create a firmer foundation for the next period of development.

According to the official announcement, all remaining financial obligations of the Federation have now been settled. IESF thus enters a new phase, with the intention of focusing more attention on national federations, esports players and the development of the international esports ecosystem.

This progress, as stated by the IESF management, was achieved by the joint work of the new Executive Board, the management and all the people who during the previous period participated in the stabilization and strengthening of the organization.

More stable foundations for the future

The new management of the IESF emphasizes the further development of the Federation, a stronger international platform and the creation of more opportunities for national members and athletes as their main priorities.

Financial stabilization should enable the IESF to devote itself more to the organization of competitions, educational activities, development of athletes and cooperation with national federations.

IESF currently gathers more than 150 national members, and its competitions allow esports players to perform as representatives of their countries through national federations included in the system of this organization.

Astana to host IESF World Esports Championship in 2027

One of the most important steps in the new development period is the confirmation that Astana will host the IESF World Esports Championship 2027, also known as WEC 2027.

The official hosting contract was signed by the International Esports Federation, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Qazaq Cybersport Federation.

The capital of Kazakhstan will host national teams, esports players, officials, fans and representatives of national federations from different parts of the world. According to the announcement of the organizers, it is expected that more than 150 IESF members will participate in the qualification process.

At this championship, esports players represent their countries through national federations that are members of the IESF. WEC 2027 will therefore represent the most significant representative competition within the competition system of this Federation.

IESF President Vlad Marinescu pointed out that WEC 2027 will be more than just a competition and that Astana will become a gathering place for national federations, athletes, fans and esports communities from all over the world.

Astana is strengthening its position on the international esports scene

In recent years, Kazakhstan has been investing in the organization of international sports, esports and technology events, as well as in projects aimed at youth, education and digital development.

The signing of the contract for IESF WEC 2027 is also connected with the presentation of the new initiative of the university campus in Kazakhstan. Thus, the organization of the championship fits into the broader strategy of development of education, technology, innovation and opportunities for young people.

The IESF and the hosts expect the championship to further strengthen the esports community in Kazakhstan and Astana's position as a city capable of organizing major international events.

Details about dates, disciplines, qualification system, locations, tickets and the complete program of WEC 2027 will be announced in the coming months.

A new chapter for IESF

Settlement of financial obligations represents an important step in the process of stabilization of IESF. The signing of the contract for the organization of the WEC 2027 in Astana shows at the same time that the long-term planning of the biggest events within the system of this Federation has begun.

A period of intensive work remains ahead of the IESF, but the latest announcements indicate the ambition that the next chapter will be built on more stable foundations, stronger international cooperation and greater support for national federations and esports players.
